in electronic induction we put a coil and spin in a magnetic field . a current get generated in the coil . current in the coil depend on the direction where the wire going up and where the going down . as the result every half rotation the direction of current keep changing . The generator called AC Generator
the current always keep continuously changing the direction
the other hand if we use split ring , we can generate DC Gnerator. than the act like commutator . the half rotation keep change the direction but the current keep not changing because use separate ring in external circuit
